PARONELLA PARK DAY/NIGHT TOUR REVIEW
Hello. I’m Rika from Japan.
I joined the Paronella Park Day and Night Tour on 14th of June 2016. It was a small group with only five people.
The bus picked me up at Cairns Sheridan Hotel on 12:10p.m. Actually, I misunderstood where the meeting point was, but the driver looked for me and he was very kind, and that’s started our Paronella tour!
On the way to the Paronella Park, we stopped at 2 locations. One is the Josephine Falls. It takes about one hour from Cairns. I saw a very big and dynamic waterfall there. The driver explained all about the local rainforest. Usually, we can swim, but on this day I couldn’t swim because it was raining and the water was very high. That was too bad, but it made a full impact!!! When we got back to the bus, the driver gave us some fresh fruits and cold water.
After a 45 minute drive, we stopped at the Mamu Tropical Skywalk. It is there to help us to discover the extraordinary beauty of the region’s Wold Heritage listed rainforest. I got an interpretive Audio Guide. (I chose Japanese of course.) I learned a lot about this beautiful rainforest. And it’s famous for skywalk. I climbed the 37m high observation tower. I couldn’t see nice views due to the low cloud cover, but I could feel the nature there. We stayed there about one hour. And finally, we bounded for Paronella Park. On the way, the driver stopped by the road, It was a small fruit market. There were nice fruits and very cheap! I bought 5 bananas for 1 dollar. I made a profit.
We arrived at Paronella Park around 5:00p.m. We explored there for about 15minutes. The castle looks like “Castle in the sky” which is Ghibli’s animation. It was nice.
Then, we went to the Mena Creek Hotel to have dinner. It is very near from the Park. We could choose from four meals. I choose the deep fried fish. It was good. We eat dinner for about 40 minutes. We then went back to the Paronella Park. There was a night tour with local guide. (You can choose languages) I joined the Japanese tour. I learned about the history of Paronella Park. I felt moved about the stories I heard. I recommended you take the night tour with guide. You will feel very comfortable. I especially liked the evening light. It was very beautiful and romantic. If it’s sunny, you can enjoy star gazing and wallaby sighting.
I came back to Cairns about 9:00p.m. The driver dropped me back at my hotel.
Unfortunately, it was raining all day long, but I really enjoyed this tour. I think it is not bad to join this tour even if it is rainy, because you can have a natural experience and get a real taste of the rainforest.
